Katie and Alex are the kind of couple who don’t need a spotlight — they are the vibe. Their Unionville Vineyards summer wedding was soft and sentimental, a little silly, and full of quiet magic that kind of sneaks up on you (in the best way).
From the moment I showed up at the farmhouse, everything just felt easy. No chaos. No one barking about a missing boutonniere. Just a bunch of really lovely humans hanging out in pajamas and vibing. Even the “getting ready” part felt like a warm-up for a really good party.
As a documentary wedding photographer, this is the kind of day I love most — where nothing’s too staged, and the real stuff gets to shine. Katie and Alex aren’t the loud-laughing, all-eyes-on-me type. They’re the kind of people who hold hands quietly, smile like they know a secret, and sneak glances that say, “Yep, this is my person.” Which, from a storytelling perspective? Total gold.
Their Unionville Vineyards summer wedding had all those in-between, blink-and-you-miss-it moments that make for the best kind of wedding photography. A first look in the sunroom. DIY florals made by the bride and her family. A color palette inspired by her love of green. And golden hour light flooding the dance floor that makes every cinematic wedding photographer’s heart do a little somersault.
But the part I’ll probably be thinking about for a while? That moment when the whole wedding party linked arms and danced their way back up to the tent. The wedding planner, Kelly, was letting us know that it was cake cutting time and I walked backward, snapping them singing along to the Spice Girls. Tipsy. Laughing. Kind of stumbling. 100% happy. All heading straight for cake.
By the way — this is just a sneak peek!! I sent over these first few favorites within 48 hours (because I cannot help myself), but there is so much more to come. Like, stay-tuned-because-it-gets-even-better more.
If you’re planning a wedding that’s more about connection than perfection — more “laughing with your friends on a hilltop” and less “posed to death in a marble hallway” — this one’s for you.
And if you’re searching for a NJ wedding photographer who’s down to photograph your dad’s secret dance moves and your teary-eyed aunt during the vows — and keep it all honest and beautiful — I got you.
